About The Dwelling Place

The Dwelling Place is a multi-racial, multi-generational church family committed to declaring, demonstrating, and advancing the kingdom of God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

As a contemporary church, we believe in advancing the kingdom by helping people find and fulfill God’s purpose and grace for their lives, through encountering Jesus Christ. We celebrate the fivefold ministry, understanding God gave “some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,” (Eph. 4:11-12 NKJV). Regardless of your age and background, The Dwelling Place recognizes God has a place for you, and we seek to develop and empower the believer to be effective in their role in the kingdom.

Standing upon the truths found in Ephesians chapter 2, we define The Dwelling Place three ways.

Our God: God is our dwelling place.

Our House: Our church is a dwelling place.

Our People: We are God’s dwelling place.

“Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” Ephesians 22-2:19 NKJV

Our pastor, Michael Posey has been senior pastor of The Dwelling Place (formerly Church of the Harvest) since 1997.

Let’s build something together.

What to expect

What kind of church is The Dwelling Place?

The Dwelling Place is a Foursquare Gospel Church. God has called us to preach and teach His Word. We want to be faithful to this high calling. We call people to faith in Christ…a faith that responds to his commands to repent, confess our faith, be immersed into Him, and continue to follow Him.

What should I wear?

Come in whatever you are comfortable in. From jeans to a suit, you are welcome!

As a visitor, will I be singled out in any way?

You will not be put on the spot, singled-out, or embarrassed at all. We do have a sign-up tablet in the hallway. We would love for you to sign in.

What is worship like?

We have a contemporary worship style that is passionate, lively and heartfelt. We have a worship team that leads our singing as well as musicians.

What are the sermons like?

The preaching at The Dwelling Place is Bible-based and Christ-centered. Every Sunday you can be sure to hear a practical message centered on the Word of God with clear application for your life in today’s culture.

It is our goal through worship and the preaching of God’s Word that Christ would be glorified and that you would be encouraged in your life and faith.

What do you offer for my child(ren)?

Our vision for our children is that each child will find a safe, fun and loving place to learn and grow. We want to teach children about being a follower of Christ, by always emphasizing loving Him and loving others. We are currently rebuilding our Children’s Ministry. For now, we have ministry for grades 1st – 8th on Sunday mornings. They will be dismissed to Children’s Ministry after our time of worship.  Our volunteers are caring parents and members who have gone though a background check as well as ministry training.

What is Foursquare?

The Dwelling Place is a part of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel,
known as The Foursquare Church. Pastor Michael Posey not only pastors this local congregation, but he has also served as the District Supervisor of the Southern Indiana District of Foursquare Churches.

The vision of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG) is to present Jesus Christ, God’s Son, to every person in every culture and nation as The Savior, The Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, The Healer, and The Soon-Coming King.

Since its founding, in 1923, that vision has been realized through evangelizing the lost and establishing local congregations in the United States and abroad, through the nurturing and training of believers into leadership on all levels of Church life, and in cooperation with other members of the Body of Christ at large in the fellowship of the Gospel and the fulfillment of the Biblical mandate to be “light” and “salt” on the earth.

Today, the number of members and adherents in the Foursquare Church worldwide now stands at nearly 5,000,000 worshiping in over 50,000 churches and meeting places in close to 150 countries.

The Foursquare Church actively participates in the National Association of Evangelicals, The American Bible Society, Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America, the Pentecostal World Conference, and the Evangelical Fellowship of Missions Agencies. Many of its leaders, pastors and members serve on the executive boards and committees of para-church agencies and endeavours, such
as the Lausanne Conference on World Evangelization and the America 2000 Outreach.
